Emerald Headingley Stadium: live-streamed time-lapse of two new stands
The project
Emerald Headingley is home to Yorkshire County Cricket Club and Leeds Rhinos. The redevelopment started in summer 2017 and was finished in May 2019. It cost about £45m, funded with Legal & General and Leeds City Council.
Caddick built a new joint North/South Stand, replacing a 90-year-old structure. It seats about 4,200 for cricket and 3,800 for rugby. A new Rugby South Stand holds about 7,700 people. Work ran inside a live sporting venue, with matches and events carrying on around the site. The finished stand opened in May 2019, in time for the Cricket World Cup.
The brief
Caddick wanted to stream the build live on its website. They also needed regular films for social media, and up-to-date footage to show visitors on site tours.
What we installed
Site Eye set up its SiteStream live camera service, so the build could be streamed straight onto the client’s website. The same mains-powered camera recorded time-lapse throughout the project.
How the footage was used
- Live stream on the website: website visitors could watch the new stands go up.
- Monthly time-lapse films: Site Eye produced a new film each month for social media.
- Milestone videos: short films, made when needed, for key moments on site.
- Site tour presentations: an up-to-date time-lapse was ready for every tour, all delivered on time.
