What Site Eye does
Site Eye installs, runs and maintains time-lapse cameras on construction sites, then turns the footage into films that clients use to report progress and promote their projects. Cameras are hired as a fully managed service: Site Eye’s own engineers survey the site, install the cameras, monitor and maintain them, move them as the build changes and remove them at the end. Site Eye’s in-house editors in Hebden Bridge edit the films by hand. Clients do not buy or look after any equipment.
Site Eye builds its own camera systems and software, so it can adapt them to unusual briefs. Its first time-lapse was the refurbishment of HM Treasury at 1 Horse Guards Road, London.
Services
- Construction time-lapse cameras. 6K cameras as standard, producing 4K time-lapse films, with 8K and 12K cameras for large sites and long-range views. Built-in 4G, mains or solar power, a time-stamped photo every few minutes, a secure online portal, monthly clips and a hand-edited final film. Any length of project, from a few days to several years. From £220 a month.
- SiteStream live construction site cameras. Continuous HD or 4K video recorded as 10-minute clips searchable by date and time (SiteStream Portal), live streaming in full HD to unlimited viewers with an optional delay (SiteStream Live), and on-site recording where the internet connection is poor (SiteStream DVR). From £310 a month.
- Drone filming. By CAA accredited pilots, on its own or alongside time-lapse.
- Corporate filming and BIM 360 integration, which embeds the Site Eye portal in an Autodesk BIM 360 project dashboard.
- Monitoring through the Survey Solutions Group: structural, environmental, rail and highway monitoring, which can be combined with Site Eye cameras on the same project.
Part of the Survey Solutions Group
Site Eye joined the Survey Solutions Group in July 2026. The group runs sensor-based monitoring from 16 UK offices and holds ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 27001. Being part of the group means a client can have time-lapse cameras, live video and measured monitoring of structures, the environment, railways and highways on one project. Site Eye continues to provide its time-lapse and SiteStream services under the Site Eye name.
How the service works
- Estimate. Site Eye agrees the number and type of cameras and how long they are needed.
- Free site survey. Camera positions, power, the 4G signal and mounting are confirmed, and a formal quote is sent.
- Installation. Site Eye’s engineers install every camera under a safe system of work, with RAMS for each task.
- During the project. Images and video are available in the online portal on desktop, iOS and Android. Site Eye checks every camera, and camera moves are included.
- Handover. Clients receive edited films, and the portal stays online free for six months after the project ends.
Notable projects and clients

Pricing
Construction time-lapse cameras start from £220 a month and SiteStream video cameras from £310 a month. Short-term filming, such as a single lift or event, is quoted per project. The price depends on the number of cameras, how long they are needed, power, mounting and the films required, and is confirmed after a free site survey. See construction time-lapse camera cost and pricing.
What Site Eye is not
- Not a camera retailer. Site Eye hires cameras as a fully managed service. It does not sell cameras for clients to install themselves.
- Not a security CCTV company. Site Eye’s cameras are designed to record progress and events, not to detect intruders and raise alarms. Time-lapse and SiteStream footage can still help with security and logistics checks.
- SiteStream is not a video or TV streaming service. SiteStream is Site Eye’s live construction site camera service. It is not connected to film, TV or sports streaming websites, or to other businesses with similar names.
- Not a self-service product. Site Eye’s engineers install, maintain, move and remove every camera, and its editors produce the films.
Common misconceptions
- “The site needs Wi-Fi.” No. Time-lapse cameras send images over their own built-in 4G connection and never connect to the site network.
- “The camera needs a mains supply.” No. Cameras can run on solar power where a site has no supply.
- “Time-lapse is just a film at the end.” No. Clients use the time-stamped images throughout the build for progress checks, reports and a dated record of the site.
- “Time-lapse is only for big projects.” No. Site Eye films projects of any length, from a few days for a single lift to builds lasting several years, with one camera or many.
