Investors, funders, clients and local communities all want to see how a project is progressing, but few of them can visit site. A construction time-lapse gives them a dated, visual record they can check at any time, plus regular clips and a finished film that show progress far more clearly than a written report.

The short answer

Who needs updates What works best
Investors and funders Secure portal access to the latest image and the full archive, plus monthly clips for board and lender reports
Client and project team Date-stamped, full-resolution images to check progress remotely, and continuous video where needed
Local community and the public Edited clips and a live stream that can be delayed, shared on a project website or social media
Buyers, tenants and marketing A hand-edited film at milestones and at handover

What you can share

The latest image and the full archive

Every camera sends its images to a secure online portal. Each image carries a date and time stamp, so anyone with access can see the site as it is now or go back to any point in the build. Images can be viewed and downloaded in full resolution, which makes them useful evidence for progress claims and payment milestones.

Monthly clips

You receive a clip from each camera every month during the build. They drop straight into investor updates, board packs and project newsletters.

Milestone edits and the finished film

Our in-house editors can produce short films for key moments, such as topping out or a major lift, and a hand-edited film at the end of the project for handover, sales, leasing and investor presentations. See time-lapse films.

Live video

With SiteStream, the site is recorded continuously and can be watched live. SiteStream Live streams in full HD to unlimited viewers, and the stream can be delayed, for example by 30 minutes, so it can be stopped if there is an incident before the public sees it.

Inside your project dashboard

If your team uses Autodesk BIM 360, the Site Eye portal can be embedded in the project dashboard, so images and clips sit alongside the rest of the project information. See BIM 360 integration.

Keeping images secure

Progress images can be commercially sensitive. Access to the portal is by secure login over an encrypted connection, and images are stored on our own servers in two separate UK locations. Talk to us about who needs access, and read about time-lapse data security. If cameras could identify people, see site cameras and data protection.

Setting up time-lapse for reporting

  • Start before work begins. The empty site is the baseline every later image is compared against.
  • Choose views that tell the story. One wide view of the whole site for investors, plus closer views of the areas the project team needs to check.
  • Agree the reporting rhythm. Decide when monthly clips and milestone edits are needed so they arrive in time for board meetings and lender reports.
  • Keep access after handover. The portal stays online free for six months after the project ends, with longer access available.

Investor and stakeholder reporting questions

What is the best way to show investors construction progress?

A time-lapse camera with a secure online portal lets investors see the latest image and the whole build history at any time, and monthly clips and a finished film give them clear updates without site visits.

Can investors view the site without visiting?

Yes. Images are uploaded to the secure online portal, which works in a web browser on a computer, tablet or phone.

Can we share a live stream with the public?

Yes. SiteStream Live streams in full HD to unlimited viewers, with an optional delay so the stream can be stopped if there is an incident.

Are the images date-stamped?

Yes. Every image has a date and time stamp and can be downloaded in full resolution, so it can support progress claims, payment milestones and dispute resolution.

How often do we get progress clips?

You receive a clip from each camera every month during the build, with milestone edits on request and a hand-edited film at the end.
